History

Opened in 1939 by Louis Gardella Sr.. At that time the store was hardware, paint and furniture. Approximately 1950, Joseph Gardella Sr. purchased the store from his father and ran it for the next 40 years, steadily improving it over time.

In 1993 the store’s current owner Gary Gardella, purchased the store from his father Joseph, upgraded the buildings, and changed the focus of the store. targeting savvy mid to high end furniture buyers, Gardella has been drawing furniture buyers from all over Michigan and the lower 48 states. According to the owner, Gary Gardella, the stores resurgence has occurred through providing the best furniture values in metro Detroit.

From the East: I-94 Expressway
Take I-94 west to Gratiot Ave, Turn Right (south) on Gratiot avenue. Go approximately 2 miles, Gardella Furniture on Left side, 2306 Gratiot avenue.

From the West: I-94 expressway
I-94 East to I-96 East, stay in the left lane, merge onto I-75 north, stay in one of the left 2 lanes, freeway dead ends at Gratiot Ave. bear left 1/4 mile. Gardella Furniture 2306 Gratiot Ave. on right side at Chene.

From the West: I-96 expressway
I-96 East until near downtown, stay in the left lane, merge onto I-75 north, stay in one of the left 2 lanes, freeway dead ends at Gratiot Ave. bear left 1/4 mile. Gardella Furniture 2306 Gratiot Ave. on right side at Chene.

From the North: I-75 expressway
I-75 South, pass I-94 freeway, get in right hand lane. Follow Gratiot Ave. exit on right side (on the ramp to I-75 south) the freeway will end at Gratiot Ave., bear left 1/4 mile. Gardella Furniture 2306 Gratiot Ave. on right side at Chene.

From the North: Lodge expressway
Take Lodge South, pass I-94, take I-75 exit north. I-75 ends at Gratiot Ave. bear left 1/4 mile. Gardella Furniture 2306 Gratiot Ave. on right side at Chene.

From the South: I-75 expressway
